A council or board and/or senior staff may choose to meet for a day or more to focus on pertinent issues and it may be helpful to involve a third party planning consultant.

Examples of topics for such discussions include policy development, governance and decision-making, envisioning the desired future of the organization, mission development, managing transitions, planning for mergers or collaborative ventures, or the integration of new programs.
